Nothing to do with birds I know, but I just wondered - if the moderators will cut me a bit of slack - if anyone has been following this BBC4 show. And if so, what do they think?

Hi,
Saw approx 10mins of it and wasn't very impressed maybe it got better later on? personally i think there's a great opportunity for a good TV series on Photography they are missing out on what seems like a booming industry and there's so many other businesses linked to Photography/wildlife watching etc (look how successful Springwatch etc are)
Maybe one day we will get a series worth watching.
Cheers

I half watched one the other night while I was doing something else. I enjoyed the section on Man Ray. I like the idea of starting an exposure, going out to lunch and then returning to the studio and stopping the exposure. Now that's a slow exposure.
Regarding other photography programmes, there have been a couple of series of a programme about digital photography, called a Digital Picture of Britain. In each episode they got three established photographers who hadn't used digital cameras before, gave them a digital camera each of different types to see what they could produce. I thought that was very interesting.

Yeah, this programme is taking a chronological approach and so is mainly concerned with traditional techniques; for digital I guess you'll have to wait until the last episode. I agree it might be nice to have a programme specialising in digital photography of wildlife.

Anyone remember "Andy Rouse - Wildlife Photographer"?
I watched that series the first (and second! ;)) time round, long before I owned a DSLR, and I'd like to see it again now that I do.

Afraid not, how long ago was it?

Must be, what?, ten years, Clive?
It was yer man Rouse being followed by a camera crew on various shooting assignments throughout the world, with him waving dirty great white lenses at all manner of critters while giving a constant running commentary of why he was choosing this shot, why these camera settings were appropriate, why that lens was best, why the light was right for a certain effect...
Interesting to me then, and I suspect I'd be riveted now.

Sounds ideal. I wonder if a DVD is available? I'll have to have a quick search...

... maybe not. A quick search on Amazon and Play for DVDs revealed nothing. Closest match was Andy Pandy!

Ha ha, very amusing. Did you find the Billl and Ben guide to photography? I believe it's called 'Pot Shots'.
While you're there, what's the idea of sending all that wind and water down to us here in Norfolk. I'm not impressed.

Hi Ron,
Sorry for all the wet/windy stuff but you lot down there were crying out for water not long ago so we Scots decided to donate some of ours LoL don't ask for any Whisky or Battered Mars Bars though!
Cheers and hope its not too bad (it looked pretty scary on TV this morning, did you escape it?)
Brian (lovely and dry/sunny with just a mild breeze today in my dreams)
