View Full Version : Filling up those fiddley feeders.....

Here's a tip I've pinched from the reserve!!

I always manage to spill seed etc when I'm filling my garden feeders - being a bit tight I refuse to pay for one of those scoop thingies!!

Having struggled away with a plastic cup I was really impressed to see that the feeders at the nature reserve are filled using empty fod tins - baked beanz, soup, peas whatever, you just clean 'em out, soak off the label and pinch a spout in the top, easy to use, brilliant, 'cheep', and no more spillages!!

Next week, Annie will be showing us how to construct a PC that never crashes, using ten Weetabix boxes, four toilet roll tubes, four yards of sticky-backed plastic and a pipe-cleaner.

Seriously though, I've tried the beans trick, but they keep seeping-out of the holes in the feeder. Do you think they'll prefer spaghetti hoops, 'cos they won't come out.

Annie, I like worried of wales have tried this technique of yours, I however used sainsbury's tinned tomatoes, just ended up as a red mush at bottom of feeder, awful mess, have I got it wrong?

I can't emphasise enough to you the importance of following instructions carefully - in this instance the project called for EMPTY fod tins!! Next week when I show you how to make a PC out of Weetabix boxes and sticky back plastic etc you will have to make sure that you follow the instruction to the letter otherwise your PC may not work properly and this could cause it to crash and we don't want that now do we...........

Can you build me a PC, scanner, colour photocopier, better digicamera with movie option, Fax, mobile phone, a fast car to get to twitches, and with any toilet rolls left over, some new binnies and a scope. Ta in advance, and I will buy you a drink.

What's wrong with letting a few seeds fall? My robin and dunnocks appreciate the spillage!

As for used toilet rolls, there should be plenty available after this correspondence! :)
