Seeing as we have had an influx of Great Grey Shrikes in the last month
Two pictures attached -
One in portrait and neutral light ( Seaham Oct 2002)
One in landscape and bright sunlight ( Bosley Cheshire Nov 2003)
Sometimes sunlight can not be condusive to a good pic dependant on the amount of white feathering in the bird ( i used -3 under exposure on the sunny pic)
Neutral good light can have its advantages as the attached pic shows
I have taken a number of shots by swivelling the camera round into "portrait" mode, especially when the subject is perched upright and has a long tail
