View Full Version : Canon 350d vs Sony alpha for digiscoping

I did a little experiment this mornign that would like to share with you. Tried both cameras with a 50mm lens set at f2, attached to a Pentax XW20mm eyepiece and Pentax PF80A scope. The light was poor so the shutter spped are quite low, but that is what I wanted to test any way, increasing ISO. The metering system in the cameras are different and the WB has not been matched. Here are pics only reside for webposting, without any other manipulation. I use remote release and 2 sec mirror lock in both cameras. Left sony antishake system on. Fist post the sony pics. Dont know anything about DSLR`s personally but i know what image i prefer. To my eyes the Sony wins hands down, the colour looks right & there is more detail to be seen in the lichen, although this could be down to the anti shake. Was there any wind movement at all? I see that the Canon exposure was 1/2 second longer which would make a difference.

I agree with the above, but must admit the Canon shows less noise at 1600. Ernie
