I have several little digicams that I have picked up over the years which don't have threads for adapters so they don't get used all that often . The best of the bunch is the Sony W100 -

Now that I have the new, improved SRB-Griturn Adapter (thanks to Paul Hackett and SRB ) I was pleasantly surprised again when I took the W100 out for a walk today.
The Leica lens (38 -114 mm ) and the 8 megs 1/1/8 inch sensor ) respond very fast to the requirements of a serious digiscoper and the results speak for themselves.
The Sony was easy to setup on the SRB-Griturn (easier than the F50fd ) and the screen is easier to see in the shade than my Canons.
The Auto focus is a joy to use and it makes me wonder why the Nikons can't be faster.
It's well worth looking at the newer short zoom Sony's for digiscoping if you have a universal-type adapter.

ps the 1st photo was at wide angle and 20x on the zoom eyepiece.
The second and third were around mid zoom in the camera and 20x on the eyepiece and the last image was at 60x on the zoom and mid-zoom in the camera.

Sony W100 plus Swarovski STS80HD scope and SW 20-60 zoom with SRB-Griturn Adapter.

Great digiscoping, Neil - as always. :t:
Could you possibly show a picture of the new adapter - how has it changed?

Ilkka,
There is a photo in this thread. It is stronger (less flex ) all around and the camera mount is now double action so you take the camera off and on in exactly the same place. Very nice. Neil.

The slotted bar at the bottom now has a separate saddle to which the camera is attached. This is slid backward and forwards until the camera is in the correct posltion and then locked with a side locking screw. The camera can then be put back in the same position each time. (I presume it will need rotating to line up squarely with the lens). I don't know if they have improved the locking of the other components to stop them moving. Perhaps Neil can let us know.

Ron,
I haven't done a full review yet as I'm still playing with it and trying different cameras. So far, so good. Although you still need the Allen key to lock the swivel bar once locked it's stays locked through normal usuage. The main issue I still have is with the remote release bracket. It probably should be cut down when you've decided which camera you are going to use it with. I'll play around with this over the next few days.
Neil.
