Hi.

I am about to buy a Opticron es80 ga ed. Could anybody please advise me of a suitable digi camera that would give good digiscoping results? Also can you advise me of adaptors too?

Thanks.

I have that scope and I also have the samsung NV3 disgiscoping kit that opticron sells to fit it. It's quite compact and easy to use and seems to work OK although it's a little pricey.

More info under 'telephotography' on the Opticron website: http://www.opticron.co.uk/

I see they now do a kit with the Samsung NV10 too.

I would show you some great examples of photos I have taken with this kit, except I am rubbish at digiscoping ;) (nothing to do with the kit)

So long as the birds aren't too far away, aren't moving too fast and the light is reasonably good, you should get decent results. This curlew wasn't too much of a disaster - http://www.birdforum.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=112256&d=1194121029

Opticron now produce a a dedicated adapter for the Samsung NV10. This camera does have an external zoom lens but Opticron have now created an adapter that fits their Digital Camera Adapter (DCC) so that this external zoom lens camera can be used with very little vignetting. This is a 10 megapixel camera that has a wireless remote, the camera also has a mode called M-Capture This is a rapid fire mode at 6 frames a second but only produces 1MB images in this mode.

The beauty for you Firefox is that because you already have an ES80 the kit available from Opticron will come will the dedicateed adapter for your specific scope/eyepiece combo. check out the Opticron website for more details
