I was recently turfed off the Salina de Janubio (a saltpans with free access) for not having a permit for a telephoto lens. Apparently one requires a permit if one wishes to use what may be termed "professional" equipment there.
This of course came as a shock to me and thoroughly ruined my last days birding there. Especially when one considers I was just lining up on some Lesser Short-toed Larks when the official came over, scared them away and in no uncertain terms ordered me out of the area.
Anyone know anything about this??
ps a few of the pictures I took prior to this can be seen here (http://www.naturalbornbirder.com/travel/Lanzarote.html)
