Just thought I'd bring this to your attention as it's quite a rare event.
For anyone who might be in the market there's a Canon 600mm F4 IS L USM for sale on MPBphotographic for £3479 + about £10 p&P, good condition too.
Public service announcement - end. ;)

Misfuds have one listed too (at £4.5k)... though they also have the even rare 200 f1.8 in secondhand too (If I have a spare couple of grand I could be very tempted).

Just looked at the website and it's been sold already, just goes to show.

I'm not surprised at that price!
As Mifsuds price suggests, they let that go for about a grand less than they could have got. Fair play to them, someone got an absolute bargain.

As has already been suggested, there could be a few more going when the 800 mm finally makes an appearance!

From what I've read people are happier sticking with their 600mm's + 1.4 TC's.

I was pretty happy with £669 for my 300mm F4 IS so I you can't fault 'em.

I was the lucky chap who bought this Lens, got it for £3400 post free, When I opened the box I was a bit shocked at the state of the Paintwork plus the deep scratches on the hood the previous owner must have carried it about in the back of a pickup. It was with some trepidation that I put it on my tripod to try it out but the lens functioned perfectly, I use it with a Manffroto 393 head £99 from warehouse express. I have attached these photo's to give you a idea of the quality of the Lens.

Well then thanks for the info, was it me that put you onto it!? I can't remember what the advert said but I do remember it describing it as 'excellent condition' or something like that, perhaps you remember better than I. So long as the mechanics and optics are perfect I suppose really the rest doesn't matter, but it does go to show what a difference a lens coat or cover can make.
The price must have reflected the bodywork then as has been suggested it was considrably cheaper than some, but of course you already knew that. ;) In any event the results speak for themselves so all the best with the lens.
Happy hunting.

Stuart Elsom is selling his 600/4 (+ camo covering) for £3750 in the BF classifieds... which sounds pretty good to me, as it's a very recent example in great condition.
cheers,
Andy
