The Bird Nerds

I have been taking pictures of birds for years! I just recently stumbled onto this site and learned about digiscoping. I have some questions if someone could answer them that would be great.
My camera is a FUJIFLIM 3800.
I want to start by using binoculars with my camera. Can anyone recomend what to get as far as an adaptor for my camera?
Thanks!

Do you have the AR-FX3 lens adapter tube that comes with the Fuji? You could get something like the F-adapter from ebay, see link below. That has a 52mm thread and the the Fuji adapter tube has a 55mm thread so you would just need a step ring to mount the two together. Depending on your make of binoculars you may suffer from some vignetting and as a rule binoculars don't give the best digiscoped photos when compared to those with a scope. But, it's a start and if you enjoy it then you can move onto bigger and better set ups like most of us have done here. I remember years ago I started out by taking photos through my binoculars. It's become a great hobby chasing bigger and better photos.

The Fuji 3800 has a 6x zoom lens so it may be a bit difficult to digiscope through bins due to their small Eye Relief. The vignetting may not disappear until near full zoom (if at all ) and that magnification would be too difficult to hand hold. Near full zoom the light may be also too low for accurate Auto Focusing.
You can test it be setting it up on a table , using books to align the lenses together and zoom the camera lens and take some test photos.

Hello Nerds,
I am currently using the Canon A95 that has the capability of attaching a filter ring. This is the easiest way to adapt to binoculars in my opinion. I do not know the capability of your camera in this regard but if it does not have a filter ring attachment you will have to devise a way to attach the adapter via the tripod mount or some other creative solution. I will include some attached photos of my set up for you brainstorming. Also some pictures I have taken through them mostly hand held. The PVC adapter fits perfectly on my Swarovski EL binoculars. Good luck, you just gotta get creative.
