If, like me, you purchased your 40d before the cashback started on 1st Oct you may of been a bit disappointed, but I see you can still claim it.

See here (http://cpn.canon-europe.com/content/news/cashback.do) and scroll to the very bottom of the page.

Thanks Mick, I cut the label of the box went to the website and it still shows 1st Oct, can I still claim.

Just had another read and it does say prior to the 1st so I am also claiming for my macro lens bought at the same time.o:Do:D

Thanks Ian I was going to wait and post it in the new year.I think it would be better to get in the post Monday and keep fingers crossed it doesn't go missing.

It is the 31st, looked on Canon site. Oh well, I guess when I do finally manage to sell some stuff it'll cost me £50 more to buy the camera.

I wouldn't worry Christine. The closing date is the last chance to buy things with cashback, so long as you can prove you bought it this year you should be able to claim your lolly well into next year.

Cheers all. :t:

I would just like to say a big Thank you to Mick Johnson for the start of this thread and letting us know about the new dates of the offer. I purchased my 40D the week before the 1st Oct which was the original date of the cashback offer. I was a bit miffed I had just missed out.

Today I received my cheque from Canon for the 40D Camera and Macro lens. Whoopee!!o:Do:D

Thanks again Mick.

Glad you got your money Christine, I on the other hand have not heard a thing, no email, nothing.

I posted this on a few other forums and it seems I'm the only one who's still waiting....'sod's law' I think they call it.

There's time yet. My cheque arrived on Wednesday as well having applied just before Xmas. I heard nothing until a week ago to confirm they were processing the application and a week later the cheque arrived.

Mick you are not alone! I sent off all the stuff to Ireland on Nov 3rd and have not had anything back--I tried emailing the right people off the Canon web site and needless to say did not receive a reply---very poor!

Graham I bought my camera on the 29th Dec and Claimed the following week. I got the e-mail last week saying I should have the cheque within 20 days. I know when my son bought a camera last spring it took 3 months to get the cash back cheque.

I've sent off for cash back on a 40D and a 70-200 f4 and have not heard back on either of them... I guess it's just a matter of waiting.

I had an unreadable email from ""Submission status do not reply"" 2 months after applying for my cashback so after emailing their customer service dept 3 times with no reply despite their statement "you will get a reply within 48hrs" (http://canon20thanniversary.onlinerebates.com)
i resorted to emailing canon europe direct "feedback@canon-europe.com" and got a reply within 2 days and my cheque arrived after 3 days :t:

Left my phone number and email address on the Canon cash back answerphone and still being ignored. What do you have to do to get a response from this company?

Looks like they must have cleared the backlog now as they have just announced more cashback (400D, 40D & 5D) on several European websites hence prices in Euros (although that's not a bad thing at the mo!).

Apparently running 1st March til end of June...

Ditto

Cheque arrived for a greater amount than expected. Phoned help number, spoke to answer machine, human voice contacted within 2 hours. Explained situation, pause while records checked, informed I had purchsed a Canon 100 - 400 lens with camera (which I hadn't). Then told to just cash the cheque...........:t:

I'm still waiting to hear, well, anything at all really.

Looks like I will have to start ringing Canon before they forget me altogether.

Anyone know what number I can try.

Well now the answerphone appears to have been switched off

several more emails and I still have no reply, no cashback and no returned phone call

last week I even went to the Focus on imaging event at the NEC and went to the well stocked Canon stand----every display person I asked said the same thing-----I am only here to demonstrate the equipment I don't actually work for Canon so I cannot help you!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone has any cast iron ideas how to get a response from these people I would appreciate it

Hi Graham, I was in the same boat as you and had no joy with the answerphone etc. But, after ringing yet another number yesterday I finally got to speak to someone.

Of course they new nothing about my cashback application but said if I send a copy of my original invoice they would send me the dosh.

Anyway, the number is 003536280308, it's another answerphone but this time someone rang me back straight away.

That someone was Norita Burke who deals with cashback and you can also email her.

Her email is, norita.burke@ir.cpginc.com

Let us know if you get any joy.

I see Warehouse are now selling the 40D at £700 with £100 cashback, £600!

I am really pi**ed off because it's just not fair to start and stop it at will waiting to catch people out (I bought mine in January at £730!). It was supposed to be in celebration of the 20th anniversary of EOS cameras which has now long gone so why is it still continuing? I just wish they'd make it final either way. I don't think I can claim as mine wasn't purchased between 1st March and 30th June 2008. Canon are not making my transition a happy one.

I have just e-mailed them to express my thoughts on this too.

Regards all.
Jaff

hi all
this is my 1st post here on this great and interesting forum but its a very bitter one.
im new to photography but bought quite expensive equipment ( canon 40d, 10-22mm, 24-105L and 100-400L) yes you guessed it in january and february.
i was disapointed at missing out on the cashback that ended on 31st december and now this. canon are p....ing off alot of people, they should either reduce the cost alltogether or use cashback all the time to make the customer feel his/her are getting good deal they can obviously afford to do this.

According to a Jessops salesman cash back is a clever ploy by the camera manufacturers as very few people actually bother to claim the cash back.

A work colleague managed to lose his receipt and was unable to calm for his Nikon. Crazy really as he has to keep tabs of all his receipts for work expenses.

Many thanks for this----I emailed NB and had a quick response to my email stating that I had sent off the cashback on Novemebr 3rd 2007 to say that they had sent me a cheque on August 8th 2007 Now that is what I call service!!!!!!!!!!! anyway after pointing out that that cheque was for the 70-200f4 I purchased in July they asked for a copy of the invoice for the 40D and I received a quick reply to say that the cheque will be in the post today--here's hoping

Well it was about 2 weeks ago when I rang to see where my 'cashback' was.

I was told they had no record of my claim for the 40d {£50) but my cheque for £60 from the last 'cashback' was never cashed. I think it was actually but was told I would get that and the 40d cashback as well so did'nt argue.

The £60 came last week but still nothing for my 40d.

So, I rang again this week and surprise, surprise I got my cheque yesterday.

Even bigger surprise was they sent me a cheque for £70 instead of £50 and of course I now have to ring them again to send the extra £20 back.....;)
