Hello,
i'm just starting with digiscoping and looking for the last link in my equipment-chain..., for the compact camera.
I have an older Nikon Field-Scope 60mm with 20x/40x and 60x eyepieces.

I could read some recomendation here, but could not find any about Samsung's NV8.
Is there any reason for that ?

This cam seems to have some advantages, like 3x zoom, IR remote control, image stabilizer(?performance not clear), good price.
Due to the 3x zoom it seems to be better for digiscoping purpose than the older sister NV10.
Is that correct ?

Currently i'm prefering the NV8 but a good alternative seems to be Canon's A570 which has a better power concept but 4x zoom and no remote-control (as i know).

If anybody have experience with NV8 in digiscoping area and cound give me some advice, it would be very helpful for me.

Whitch one of the both compact cams mentioned above (or maybe some other) is the better one for digiscoping purpose ?

Thank you very much for your help in advance,
Reinhold

Reinhold,
Donīt know much about either of the cameras you mentioned, from the looks of it though, they should do the job, it depends on the adapter and eyepiece you use. I use the Canon A640 which has the 4Xzoom and get excellent results. I fashion my own adapters to suit. There are people out there that have success with Samsung cameras. Merry Christmas. Ernie

PS. The remote is a very important addition, to stop shake, even with IS you would have to fashion some sort of release fore the Canon. Ernie

Hello Ernie,
thank you for your quick replay.
It was also my impression, that both cams should do the job, but i also learned from some forums, that many factors can influence the results.
I just made some trials with an universal adapter form Vixen and an old Sony Cybershot P9, but no success.
The adapter was quite instable and the shutter button very sluggish.
For that reason I also think that the remote IR is a very strong argument.
Regarding adapter, maybe a self-made solution will work better.

But it seems, that nobody is using these models, so I will learning by doing :-) and will most probably start with NV8.

Thank you for your opinion and Mary Christmas to you.

OK Reinhold, thanks for the good wishes, likewise to you and yours.
The idea of making your own adapter is a good one, that way you know what you are getting.
Make a search for Universal adapter, you will find one I designed, it should suit most cameras, and it is simple to make. Good luck . Ernie
