A friend of mine came down to visit the other weekend to go down to Sandwich Bay Observatory. When we were in the hide he brought out a green book to write down notes for the day and tick of any new sightings. It is about twice the size of the traditional Policemans note books and considerably thicker. I think it was printed by Croxton Press (or someone sounding very similar). Unfortunately I can't remember what it is called.
I want to ask Santa if he can instruct his elves to get me one of these books for Christmas, but I am concerned that he won't know where to send them. :h?: Does anybody know what I am talking about, and if so any ideas where I can get one - mail order if possible.
Thanks,
Iain

Andrew,
I know that you may be visiting WWT Slimbridge soon. Take a look in the bookshop, they have this book there. It has a plain green cover with the title in gold.

In a similar vein, I've made my own "field list" books with MS Word (2000), They're similar to the old RSPB grey ones. I print them on 11 sheets of A4 (double sided) plus a cover from A4 card, folded, stapled & cut, you get 2 books (20 lists) for the price of some paper and ink or toner!
If anyone would like the files Email me on simon@abitcomputer.co.uk (my works Email - can't attach big enough files with my personal one!)

I saw these books and did not like them as they are not spiral bound so the pages don't completely fold over. and given the width of some hide shelves they might be unwieldy. If they were spiral bound they may have been useful to me but for now I will stick with my Policeman's Notebooks.
Another thing was the size of the books, they were so big that you could only really use them as hide log books. Not suitable for pulling out of your pockets everytime you se a bird and put it down. Small pocket notebooks are better. However, if you do not like compouter based records then these lokk brilliant for writing down the totals when you get home.
