Well Ive decided to to get one of these
I can get it as an ota so that without the finder and the diagonal no eyepeice required prime focus.

it's a 80mm /600mm f7.5 ed refractor with FPL-53 extra-low dispersion glass a very smooth grayford focuser and hopefully should get those birds which are hard to get . (local kestral, barn owl, meadow pipit, grey wagtail, kingfisher + many more at the bird reserves.

I dont mide the m/focus and as im shooting at f8 to f14 on the bigma that doesnt bother me either .

has any one else thought about this combo.

many thanks
jason.

I use astro scopes for terrestial photography and think this one should work very well. Don't forget to get a barlow for it - they work well in my scopes when I need a bit more reach.

My Astro Tech 80mm APO Triplet and a shot taken with it.

thanks sout fork nice set up and a very nice cardenal.

is the 2x barlow going to be better than a 1.4x /2x tc ive got both and i might take the pins out of the 2x as this does not auto on my bigma.

the main reason im getting this set up is the waders are to far from the hide at my local reserve and each year i come back with the images that i now ill have to crop heavily so the IQ goes doen hill .

many thanks
