Hi all,
I have just purchased a Samsung NV3 to go with my recently purchased Nikon ED50. What I need to do now is buy some spare batteries for the NV3. The standard battery is the Samsung SLB-0837(B) with a capacity of 860mAH. However, Samsung are advertising a SBP-4442 Portable Battery Pack Kit with a capacity of 4400mAH that can be used with the NV3 - i.e. >5 times capacity of standard battery. What I am very unclear about, and I cannot fathom out from details on Samsung website, is whether the SBP-4442 actually provides batteries with 4400mAH capacity or whether it is just some form of charging station which can be used theoretically with batteries of that capacity.
Could anyone enlighten me. If I purchase a SBP-4442 do I get batteries with capacity of 4400mAH? :brains:
Cheers

Hello John
I have the Samsung i6, and I bought this SBP-442 powerpack about 7 months ago from Amazon UK, the pack actually came from a German source, however, and the powerpack is absolutely superb. I have only charged it twice, and it lasts for ages. I tried it on a friend's NV3 also, and it works great.
It comes with a snazzy grey case with velcro fastening, and when I've hooked it to my camera(attached to scope eyepiece), I wrap the case-flap around the base of the tripod handle, the powerpack's coiled wire allowing this easily, and have almost forgotten it's there sometimes. Seems to hold its charge well in cold weather too, so it probably does last 5-times longer than ordinary batteries. In my opinion, and with a broad experience of external battery packs, it's a must to get really......and I don't work for Samsung!!
Availability a bit thin in UK, and price varies between £60 to £75, but here is a site with all in at £47.50ish, but about a week or so wait:

Good luck(....know anyone who wants to part with a Contax U4r, I always ask!)

Try ringing this fellow. I know his webpage does not show it but he had one when I was in last time.

Many thanks, Steve. I had sent similar query to Samsung distributor and gopt no reply (still haven't) which prompted me to put message on here. Now I can happily go ahead and get the SBP-4442.

My pleasure, John. You won't regret it, I promise. The powerpack is a lovely, well-built item just by itself...just remember to switch it off when not in use!It only measures about 80mm square by 30mm out of its case....a little beauty, and can be used on several other Samsung cams(and a few mobile phones too, I think).
You may have this already, but here is a pdf of the little instruction leaflet which comes in the powerpack's box:
www.samsungcamera.com/common/ manual_down.asp?prj_uid=469&fg_lang=EN
I wish I could afford to buy another sbp-4442 as you know it will disappear 'off the shelves' sometime.
Good luck.
Steve.
