I looked out of the kitchen window yesterday afternoon, to be met with this sight! There is a mill pond nearby, presumably where they've come from. As they seemed quite at home in the garden- even cleared our pond of plants - I wonder if they're being fed at a house somewhere. They've gone again today ( I'm pleased to say- definately looked out of place! :-O )

Ooh nice, good garden bird. They came "mob handed" too:-O. Never had one in the garden:-C but we are miles from any water that holds them so not really likely. Weird one last year for us was red-legged partridge, we are at least 1mile from the nearest habitat suitable for that species, in the middle of a housing estate, so I suppose theres hope yet!!!!
Friend of mine was in (I think) Finland a while back and was walking round a pond and saw a Moorhen amongst other things, then a local panted up and asked excitedly "have you seen it???"
"What?" replied my friend, thinking it was going to be a good rare bird as the guy was so excited....well it was, it was the Moorhen:-O, they were very rare there!
Cheers

Great video :t: I'll have to show my hubby Neil when he gets up (asleep because he's on nightshift tonight) because he adores Moorhens and, to him, any other species is JUST a bird ;):-O

Many thanks, all. Gill, hope your hubby enjoys! I think their feet are just wonderful - a dainty bird with size 15s!
