Hi

I have purchsed the Tamrac Expedition 7 which mets my modest needs. I am wondering if it is safe to keep a scope / camera attached to the tripod when it is attached to the rucsac in the locating pouch and using the straps. I have the mulepac for when not taking my camera, but wonder if the Tamrac can be used in a similar manner.

Cheers

Hi Kevin,

I've got the same bag but I usually walk round with the 100-400 lens on the camera for hand holding and if I've got the scope I dangle that over my shoulder. I wouldn't like to trust those 3 straps with the extra weight

Cheers Nick. I did wonder about the strength of the straps!

Do you tend to hand hold your camera & lens or use tripod? Maybe it is my inexperience or being used to a scope, but I have only used the camera on tripod and then miss some good shots due to slow manouvreing. Basic I know but THose with cameras I have seen do not tend to have a tripod with them.

Hi Kevin,

If I'm walking around I have the 100-400 on and hand hold or lean up against a tree usually. for in hides I've got a small clamp I can use but normally it's a bean bag. I do use the Tripod if I've got the Tamron 200-500 on as I'm not that steady :-O:-O

I think the straps are strong enough but I'm not so sure that they wouldn't slip with the wait of a scope & tripod and it would at best possible put you back out ( bin there done that - no thanks) or worst case fall out & damage the scope:eek!:
