I thought I would put this up as a reminder of what a great bird the Ivory Gull is, this being the Mumbles bird, Swansea December 2002, and hopefully as a prediction of more to turn up soon.

Can I have one on our tip near Peterborough please? Could be tricky to pick out of the many thousands present but should stand out better than most. Saw the Aldeburgh bird and I have to say it wasn't the most spectacular sight but a welcome tick on a rare twitch. Now an adult....
Great pic. Thanks for the reminder.

Great pic - got any of the Montrose bird? (that's the one I ticked)
Hi Brian - think you're pushing your luck there, there's never been an inland record ;)

Many thanks to you both, Sadly not got the Montrose bird, but I have got the Aldburgh bird. There may be a remote chance as, Brian, there is a record of one being shot at Chippenham in Wilts in 1840

I have been fortunate to get both the Aldeburgh plus the one near Porthmadog. Unfortunately my only photo pales well into into insignificance against Nigels shot. Cracking birds though. Wouldn't mind seeing another one, hopefully in a position where I can get my camera onto him.

OK, OK, I wasn't around in 1840!

What a pity you feel this bird was not up to your expectations. Why do you consider the bird to be so unspectacular? considering the journey it took to get here I think that credential deserves some Oooh factor.
