Folks, As the title suggests I need a new bigger bag so I can cart all my (and my daughters ) camera kit in. It will need to hold.....
2 bodies (not currently 1D series)
100-400
300 f4
70-200 f4
wide angle
50mm,
1.4 TC
Ideally with a place to strap tripod to and some storage pockets fro remote, filters, cloth, memory cards etc, etc.
Any views or advice would be great;y appreciated.
Cheers

Lowenpro photo trekkerAW 11.
Mine holds two bodies,sigma 500,tamron 300,canon18-55,canon wide angle 10-22lenses,cleaning kit,night scope,and various other bits n pieces.
The tripod goes on the back and the scope on the side with the other side spare.
There is enough space for sandwiches and a small flask and waterproofs.
I have found that without the tripod it will go as hand luggage on easyjet.
Mind you with all that it does get a bit heavy.

How does this one compare to the Lowepro Nature Trekker AW.11- anyone have one of these?

I recently bought a Nature Trekker AW II.
At the time I had to decide between the Nature and the Photo trekker.
Not much difference in price (I payed ~ $ 180 incl. tax & shipping), just the dimensions are slightly different with the Photo Trekker being a bit larger.
In the end I decided on the Nature Trekker since it dimensions will "officially" fit most airline's carry on requirements (I am not talking about the weight loaded with the gear!).
I currently carry a Nikon DSLR, Sigma 50-500mm, 70-200mm, 90mm, 28-70mm, 8x40 binoculars with room left to grow in. It also came with a detachable daypack......

I went ahead and bought one- but am regretting it now, I'm afraid. The Nature Trekker AW II is full of great ideas but is a very heavy rucksack (even without the gear). I loaded up some gear (a Canon 40D, a small telephoto, and a 100-400 telephoto) and took it trekking- after around 11 miles or so I'd had enough. Even with all the back protection, extra straps, etc., it is just too heavy. I've reverted to the Lowepro slingback, which is a lot lighter- just a pity it doesn't come in a version with two straps as the single strap is a pain.

I guess all these pro photo backpacks are quite heavy in themselves .. I have the Nature Trekker AWII, and when full loaded, it gets really heavy.
Yesterday I managed to walk for half an hour on the mountains, searching for a suitable place for my hide: I had already enough after 10 minutes or so |8.| but I had to go a bit farther: a pain!:stuck:
My load:
backpack + daypack
2 cameras
2 lenses (Canon 400mm + Tamron 200-500)
bins
sandwiches/ water bottles (2x 1.5L)
tripod
portable (?!) hide
stool
camo nets
other bits and bobs
So much really depends on your plans: if you really need lots of things with you (e.g. for a day-long shoot), there's no way out: a pro backpack is the way to go. Sorry!:-C
Cheers,
Max
