I posted this in the rather quiet Cornwall Birding (http://birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=78333) thread the other day but didn't get any answers, so thought I'd try it here instead:
Hi,
I'm going to be spending a few days in Cornwall next week. Can anybody recommend good birding sites within, say, an hour's drive of Newquay? Places with some non-birding interest would be particularly appreciated by my girlfriend...
Thanks,
Tom

Hope you are not planning on getting there on Monday as there is some extremly severe gales forecast then.

Thanks for the concern - luckily we're not going down until tomorrow, so should be okay.
According to "Where to watch birds in Britain", Newquay itself is pretty good for seabirds - although the birds don't like the area round the sewage outlet so much now that the sewage is treated. Every cloud has a silver lining, I guess...

No - didn't even know it was there! (Pentire Point was pretty much the only bit of Newquay I didn't get to). I'm not hugely into vagrants, though, and I saw plenty of Alpine Swifts in Greece last year anyhow, so not too disappointed... Thanks for the message, anyway.
