A Cabela's store opened up in CT recently.-I am thinking about getting a portable bird blind in order to get better close-up photos of birds.-Nothing professional-just for my own use.-
Cabela's has a blind intended for hunters.-It is basically a folding chair with a little tent attached to it.-It has a zip-down window at the top.-Do you think that something like tghis would work out?-it's only about $60

Can you give us a link to the item on their website? I surfed their website a lot and couldn't find anything like it.

My immediate thought is that there is not much room for moving but it is so cheap it is worth a go.

I have been looking at this one in Argos (I assume you have the equivilent over there). From the catalogue it says it goes up in 10 seconds!!
The only thing I can't figure is the height-it says it has a 2.00 metre "hydrostatic head" but the description give the height as 1100mm. Either way it should be big enough to sit in-and plenty of room for the crate of beer!B (:

Hydrostatic Head is a measure of waterproofing,1000mm is fully waterproof, anything higher is even more waterproof,so 2000mm is very waterproof check this out. http://www.outdoorgear.co.uk/infopoint/definitions/hydrostatic.htm Hope this explains it better for you.

The Ameristep Outhouse blind would be a better choice for size/price on most hunting sites or Ebay

I agree with Bob about the Amreistep blind being a better choice.

I bought it and tried it a bit. It seems a bit flimsly and hard to stay still in. I'll try it out for a couple of hours this weekend and see how it goes. If I can capture a nice photo that I wouldn't have without it-then It'll be worth it. I am skeptical at this point.-thanks for the replies.
