I am camping at Crossways site (well, camper van actually) near Dorchester this coming week-end.

I was wondering whether there was any chance of seeing Puffins at Dancing Ledge or Durlston Head?

Any other local suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers.

Well, I visited Dancing Ledge on Saturday morning (between 11.00am - 1.00pm) and didn't see any Puffins at that time. However, an information hut on the way there suggested that sightings may be more likely in the evening when they return from their feeding trips with food for their young.

I did see excellent close up views of guillemot on the water very close to the rocks, clearly brown and white.

Back at the camp site at Crossways (very close to Moreton railway station) there were tree creepers easily viewable, within 6 - 8 feet of where I was standing. Quite uncanny to watch them crawling along the underside of branches as easily as the top side.
