Hi guys,
I recently had the opportunity to visit California with my family. Naturally my photogear was in the carry on luggage.
I am posting my images sort of slowly but wanted to share with you all what my Canon 350D and 400F5.6 accomplished. Mind you , I am a birder before photographer so all my shots are handheld and only taken after ID has been done.

Very nice shots. I am quite embarrassed as I live in California and haven't seen (or taken pictures of) more than half of the birds in your latest gallery yet...

Beautiful gallery. I must admit that you have destroyed any perception I may have held that one cannot shoot hand-held with the 400mm. I'll have to try it at higher ISOs.

Great collection Peter! No surprise though, neither from the lens nor from your skills ;)

Beautiful shots, Peter. Seems you had a great stay - as far as birding went.

Nice job capturing a variety of birds with the 400 - it's a great lens and you've demonstrated its capabilities well!
