Hello, Has any one owned and used one of these and can compare them against other 8x32's. ?? A search of the net reveals some info but not much field use opinion. Thxs for your input.

Hi.

I have one, bought from an auction about a year ago. Its condition was only slightly used, and from what I could tell, it was in good collimation. Its box shows its 'article number' as 50572.

Here are my observations from my sample:

I'll assume that you know what it looks like, so I'll comment on the aspects that are not obvious from first look. Its right-eye diopter adjustment is the forward half of its focus knob, and it moves in discrete steps. The flared rubber housing extensions at the eye-lenses are flexible enough to fold back, though its eye-relief is not long, maybe 13 or 14 mm, I would guess. Its closest focus distance is somewhat long; I would estimate it as about 18 feet.

I don't know what its field of view is, but it is fairly wide, more than 380 feet at 1,000 yards, I'd guess. I could see no color bias, and its chromatic aberration level was low. Its center resolution is very good, but top-end 8x binoculars have better resolution by small, but observable, margin. Here, in my view, is its disappointment: it has one of the narrowest sweet spots that I have ever seen; at about 40%-to-50% from center, I can see loss of resolution starting. By the last 80%-to-90% from center, resolution is poor. I recall the short BVD article written on these binoculars years ago, and I think it said that center field resolution matched the top end roof prism models and 'maintained something very close to that resolution right out to the edges'. My particular sample, however, performed a little below this.

I judge it to be a very good binocular: compact and with very good sharpness, but its downsides are a narrow sweet spot and longish close-focus distance. Eyeglass wearers will have difficulty seeing its full field of view.
