Are there any areas in the west midlands that had guaranteed turtle doves?

There are no guanrantees, but, near the WM, you could try the Tame Valley area - Kingsbury Waterpark, Ladywalk, Dosthill, etc. See http://www.westmidlandbirdclub.com/ for more; and call the Club's hotline for up-to-date news.

I went to the Kingsbury Water Park yesterday and I can confirm that there are definitely Turtle Doves there. We walked through the park itself and onto the canal where we ended up taking a path through the hedge. We ended up on the road leading to the gravel pit and we heard Turtle Doves in the trees. It was a really pleasant sound.

From the main hides at Kingsbury, take the Canal towpath north. Between here and Drayton Manor is good for Turtle Doves. You can also walk South along the path to Bodymoor Heath.

Another option is to go across the canal bridge opposite Drayton Basset pits, and either carry on West along the track, or take the footbath that runs immeadiatly south of the bridge, and carries on on past some woodland, to Middleton Hall.

Turtle Doves may be seen anywhere along the above.

Ive had better luck on warm still days, rather than windy or dull.....dont know why, but:t:
