I had my A640 for a few months before I discovered the two fixed digital zoom features. These are 1.4x and 2.3x and allow the max lens opening of
f2.8 to be maintained, When employed, either of the two extend the optical zoom range accordingly. I include three test shots of a 10.75 inch decorated plate digiscoped from 35 feet. The first is 1.4x digital with no optical zoom. The second is 2.3x digital with no optical zoom. The third is 2.3x digital plus 2.5x optical zoom. I am very happy to see that, with this feature, very little noise is introduced in any of the images. Scope used was a Pentax PF80ED with a 21mm Pentax XL eyepiece.
