you could do worse than Jessops - www.jessops.com

They have a nationwide presence and the camera can be bought online and picked up at your local store (next day) for £629.99. When you check out use voucher code 'SUMMER35' and you will get a discount of £35, bringing the price down to around £595 and you still have your full £100 Cashback from Canon.

This is a tremendous camera for under £500!

More Jessops and other vouchers can be found here (http://www.vouchercodes.com/vouchers/jessops.htm)

Hope this helps,
Chris

Thanks for the info re Jessops ,I did not know about the discount codes,I would prefer to buy local if possible ,just in case there is a problem later and this sounds like a good price , 7dayshop have a similar price ,they are good at what they do but trying to contact them is not easy ,so it looks like a trip to Newcastle and check out Jessops.
Thanks
Brian

Equipment Express are very definitely present in Altrincham. They're more or less opposite Jessops (or were a few years ago), and I bought my CP4500 and EOS 5D there in person. Good service, and attractive prices, although recently they seem to have concentrated more on the lower cost models. When I bought my 5D just after its launch, their price was the lowest from memory, and I just couldn't understand why anybody was going in to Jessops - selling at the high RRP.

Hi Brian,

To get the web price and use the voucher you will have to buy on the web at www.jessops.com - but you can collect the camera from any local shop. If you just go into a Jessops store the price will be significantly higher.

BTW, I see AJ Purdy (www.ajpurdy.co.uk) are advertising the EOS 40D for £629 with a 'free' 2GB CF Card, before cashback. I have bought from these people online before without problem.

Finally, to give you yet more choice, Warehouse Express (http://www.warehouseexpress.com) are showing the price of the EOS 40D to be £499 (after Cashback) in this week's Amateur Photographer magazine.
Cheers,
Chris

The thread below is relevant to the above. My own experiences some years ago were fine.

Hmm, as I said I have bought from them without problem in the past, however, if in doubt.... stick to Jessops - buy online & collect locally. If there are any issues / problems you can take it back locally as well!

Well I hummed & harred on the deal and thought I would give my 350D just a little longer, now it's July and the current offer is over.............now my camera decides to go dead ,no sign of life with any of the batteries I have ,does anyone know of a repair shop in the Newcastle area its well out of the warranty.

Sorry I can't help with a repair shop local to you but Google probably can.

I suggest you contact Canon in Ireland about the end of their offer. My cousin managed to get a cashback deal more than a month after it ended.
