Hi Dave,
What was the Long-tailed Duck up to? I'm surprised one hung around that far out to sea for so long.

Dave ,are the Starlings long stayers on the platform or just a few minutes?

Andrew,
The L.t.duck was seen diving round the export hose which is covered in marine growth so I take it that it was feeding o.k.
I only saw it land on deck once when the sea was exceptionaly rough,
Swift,
The Starlings were long stayers, bit of a surprise on the 14th when I saw 6 though, perhaps some passed in the night.

Hi David,
How deep is the sea where you are?
Long-tailed Ducks can dive pretty deep, definitely over 60m, and probably over 100m, and they'll also winter well out of sight of land, where the feeding's suitable

Michael,
70 mts. and there is plenty of sub sea manifolds and pipe lines under us that attract and give shelter to all sorts of marine life.
