Some of you may recall that I was pleased as punch about a month ago to see a Grey Wagtail in my garden - it was down on the lawn eating some scraps of left-over tortilla wraps that had been thrown out there.

Well..... this weekend, Mexican food was again on the menu chez Ruby so this morning I threw out some more bits of tortilla wrap.

Had a look out there a few minutes ago and feeding on it was a flock of Long-Tailed Tits - Blimey!!

Must go now.... off to the shops to buy more tortilla wraps - hoping for an Osprey!! ;)

Inspired by your success with exotic cuisine, I tried out the birds with the remains of a take-away spicy sausage and pepperoni pizza. It proved a moderate success with the robins and blackbirds - but the chaffinches went mad for it. At one point there were in the order of 20 + scoffing it down.

The woodpecker has just put in a bid for a deep pan Hawaiian with a side order of garlic bread ;)

'Arf, Arf....

Did appeal to my sense of humour.... wondering which take-away meals would suit which birds...

I've put out baked potatoes with some success as well.

I have a neighbour who dumps the leftovers of Chinese and Indian take-ways onto their bird table (often still in the foil container) and Starlings, Rooks, Carrion Crows, Black headed Gulls, Herring Gulls, and Lesser black backed Gulls go mad for them - although the Rooks are so wary that they generally miss out. The local House Sparrows are partial to it also but the size of the others usually means they get the scraps or whatever falls to the ground.

C'mon guys, my car gets in a real mess during the summer - so do we really want to be feeding left over chilli to the local gulls? And Gordon, your neighbour giving them vindaloo, well the mind boggles!! :)

Hmm - interesting thread! Only trouble is, I can't quite get my head around the concept of EVER having left over Indian or Chinese takeaways. They simply never get left over. In fact, personally, I think they taste even better after a week long post-cooking marinade in the fridge...especially for breakfast!
