Went down to Slapton Ley in Devon yesterday to see the Penduline Tit which showed extremely well !! The main problem for people trying to take pictures was the sun in your face and the bird constantly engulfed whilst feeding on the bulrushes, see attached pics, it showed well for the majority of the day

Superb pics as always, Paul!

I've also been looking at other pics of this on Surfbirds and they all show that nice black mask. You know, it's funny, but when I saw the bird a couple of weeks ago I couldn't for the life of me see any black on the forehead. The mask seemed to come to a point at the base of the bill base. I wasn't the only one who remarked on this, either. I can't believe it's moulting, so is the forehead depth something they can expand at will?

Excellent shots, Paul. Tricky conditions with the sun but the bird being engulfed in the heads of the bullrushes is a new one on me, looks quite spectacular.

Andy

Excellent pix Paul. I was also at Slapton Ley yesterday and saw this marvellous bird very clearly. Great stuff.

Sorry if you were had to hear me shouting out "PENDULINE TIT!" when I found it by the pool at the top end! Were you the one with the huge camouflaged camera near the bridge?

Fantastic! I well remember my first Cetti's there - too far for me to drive, though!
