I'd like to mention the biording opportunities now availible on the Axe Estuary - at Seaton Marshes and Colyford Common Local Nature Reserves.

Colyford is especially good for autumn passage birds, Seaton has wheelchair access and facilities in the bird hide. Facilities in the wheelchair sense, not toilets, shop etc!

Two cracking spots, with a regular troop of local patchers, who are all very friendly and welcoming. For more info, please send me a mail.

Cheers

Agreed, it is a good spot for various passage migrants. Being a long way from me I don't get down there as often as I'd like to. When I do go it always rewards me. Last trip I popped in for twenty minutes and got Water Pipit among a few others nice birds. I hope to go back to research for a full description in the Devon forum.

There is also a Tram trip up the side of the estuary with commentary from top local birders on scheduled days. They have a website www.tram.co.uk (http://www.tram.co.uk) try to get on a trip with Rod Lawrence, he is excellent.
