Hi All

A few years ago I bought a Digital camera when in San Francisco,USA,called an Epson
Photo PC 750z 3 x optical zoom.

It has worked fine until this Xmas when for no apparent reason when the camera was switched on the lens did not come out in a smooth motion as it normally did but in a staggered (stuttering in and out) way and when I took any photos the image was always blurred .N.B.I changed the batteries ,so that is not the problem.

Has anybody got any ideas of what the problem may be and where I could get it fixed in the UK.

I live most of time in Spain and nobody wants to know down here, but I come back to UK from time to time so if neceassary I can bring it back with me next time.

Cheers for now

Hi tchagra

I've got a feeling that 'Nobody wants to know' will apply here, also!

Digicams have come on in leaps and bounds over the last couple of years to the extent that older models are not worth a sneeze so any repair would probably cost more than the camera is worth.

It sounds as if something has come out of place as the lens moves into position at the start-up so is unable to find the 'correct' starting position from which to focus.

As many compact and APS cameras have similar lenses that move out as the camera is switched on, there's just a chance that some independent camera-repairer somewhere has experience of dismantling and 're-aligning' the lens but I've absolutely no idea who.

If you were in the UK for any length of time a letter to the 'queries' page of 'Amateur Photographer' may just get a result.

Does Epson equipment have a built-in, time-related 'self-destruct' button!!??
