Well, the nights are beginning to draw out, and my journey home from work is now usually in something approaching daylight - but as for my outback trips, that's still a weekend activity.

In spite of this morning's drizzle, we (the usual Saturday party) went out, and although we came across nothing new, the trip was certainly worthwhile, and some reasonable numbers were had.

There are plenty of snowdrops showing in the woods, but the rest of the woodland bulbs seem to be in the green - a little bit behind what I guess must be our slightly more sheltered garden.

The trees are still largely bare, of course, but the buds are bursting out, and it won't be long before there are hiding places a plenty - not that most birds need to hide too hard when I'm looking!

That is one of the good things about winter, you can see the birds in the trees a lot easier!
