Hi Everyone
My other half has kindly offered to buy me a new pair of binoculars for christmas, however being the thoughtful person that i am i'm in two minds whether to hang on till the sales to see if i can get a bargain. Does anyone know whether the suppliers have january sales or not
Would be grateful for any info
cheers

They tend to be heavily discounted nowadays by most good retailers for 12 months of the year...its so competitive there is very little difference in price differences. You may find a good deal if you hunt around but you do need to know your stuff to work out what "is a good deal". Also depends on what your budget is and how much you are thinking of spending - suggest you get out there and try some out - then decide which ones you like, after which you can keep an eye on prices. Good luck

I agree with Pyrtle....in addition Christmas Sales are good too, and businesses will be trying to make the books look good for a less than steller year.
My 2 cents

Many Thanks for your replies, i am thinking about getting the opticron hr wp as that seems to be best option for my budget as i like porros, however i'm yet to try a pair so i will research it well (i have been looking forward to this for ages!)

I agree with the general sentiment but I suspect with the general feeling of tight money that in the early part of next year we may see more efforts to drop prices (especially on older stock or stuff that's not moving). So if you can wait ... I don't think prices will go up!

I think there are all kinds of products out there. Nikons I do not expect to drop much and there really are not that many models anymore.

I think the retailers will be dropping prices.
Also the US$ strengthened against the Euro for the last half of this year reversing a trend of the last few years. You may see the Euro 3 bins drop in price (or perhaps not go up as quickly ;) )
Chinese EDs will have an increasing effect on the market next year. But it won't impact the top 4. They live in their own little "superbinocular" world.

I agree but they will be affecting almost everthing else.

In the economic crunch, you will see makers drop lots of models completely and concentrate on the popular ones. The dropped products will be on sale, but you have to catch them quick then.

Some folk are predicting that a lot of retailers will go to the wall after Christmas. Banks are cancelling overdrafts, debtors not coughing up on time, and sales down anyway, so cash flow is being strangled. Not a pretty picture, but if there´s an optics store closing down near you come January, you might get a bargain.

You're quite right, its not a pretty picture. I will keep my eyes open for a bargain, but if possible i'll try and get something from a local dealer so i can do my bit, all be it in a small way.
Many thanks for the info
