View Full Version : Coolpix P6000 - self-timer and remote control?

I bought a Coolpix P6000 recently and I am irritated that the two second self-timer delay cannot be assigned to U1 or U2. Even more irritating is that after setting and taking a self-timer shot the P6000 resets the self-timer to off! It seems that the self-timer needs to be selected before every shot! Am I right - is no way to leave the self-timer on all the time?

So, if there is a P6000 owner who also has a remote control, were I to buy a remote control does the same thing happen? In other words, once a remote control shot has been taken does the camera stay in remote control mode for subsequent shots or does the remote control also need to be selected before every shot?

Thanks....

You gave me an excuse to unpack my brand new P6000 which is a Xmas present :D

And I have the ML-L3 remote control.

After setting the self timer to the "remote control - no delay" an icon representing the remote control appears on the screen. I was then able to take multiple shots with the r/c - with only a short delay for the camera to refocus. I then left it to go to standby and it did the same when turned back on. I then turned off the whole camera and on startup, the icon was still there and the r/c worked fine.

I did double check the normal 2s delay without a r/c and it doesn't "remember" the 2s delay.

Looks like the r/c will do what you (and I) I want o:)

Hope it helps.

Michael.

Certainly does help, thanks Michael.

A little annoying that it won't remember the timer delay but at least the r/c setting is good news.

I have tried my Canon remote but that does not work, perhaps I have a remote for some thing else. I see the Nikon r/c costs about £10 but by the time I have lost one or two....!

I hope you have wrapped up your pressie! :)

Does the remote control send sigal through lens?

If so, it will be impossible to take a shot with r/c when the camera is attached to the scope with adapter. Can you test this? If it works, I would probably buy one.

Thanks

I looked at the User Manual on line and it shows the IR receiver on the front of the camera at the top left of the lens when looking at the front of the camera. About 10 o'clock.
