I'm idly curious as to what the differences are between the 1D mk II and the 1dn mkII, does anyone know of any review sites that have compared them directly?

Not enough to justify the exagerated price tag of the N. As I understand it, a better lcd (larger and more pixels), auto modes, better frame buffer, displays iso setting in viewfinder (worthless imho since in order to adjust this setting you have to push two buttons at the same time and remove the camera from your face anyway).

Didi has owned both of these, so I've had a little play with them. I could never figure out how to do anything on the MkII - even the simplest of procedures seemed to need three hands. With the MkIIn I found the whole user experience much more intuitive.

Well, don't know much about the 1D MkII - but this last part is not that true (you can easily do that - with two fingers, though :C); then you may add easier switch from CF card to SD card on the N model.
Some rumours - nothing more :smoke:- on the street dealt with sharpness issues with the 1D Mk II - a possible reason for Canon to release a minor upgrade as the Mk II N just some time later (http://www.sportsshooter.com/news/1490). A view not shared by many others at that time (http://www.prophotohome.com/forum/canon-1-series-digital-slr-eos-5d/62412-mk-ii-vs-mk-iin-2.html), although there must have been some actual improvement in the AF performance department ... (which in my humble opinion can be even better than some new models ...)
