Off all my 33 years living in Blackpool I never expected this site!!!!

Stood on the far side at the reed beds looking at the green hide towards the caravan park with a fellow watcher, to suddenly see it swoop over the far reed bed and into the trees with a kill. Only saw it for about 30 seconds but heavenly site on such a cold morning.

And definately a peregrine not a sparrowhawk.

Spooky.

Spotted same bird stood next to this other birder I'd met this morning and was pretty gobsmacked to see it fly into the trees, though it may have just cut through the copse as it's only thin. Definite peregrine as size, colour, jizz and wing shape in flight confirmed.

Also was nice to spot some great spotted woodpeckers. Got a good view of 4 long eared owls on far side of the bushes off the path running alongside the golf course. Hope you didn't miss them!

Didn't expect to bump into you again online :)

Hahaha nice one mate, good to hear you saw the Owls, ill have to get over there soon and try and find that spot. Had to walk back as my hands were about to drop off it was that cold but on the final hide where all the feeders are I saw a Corn Bunting eating from the feeders.... bizarre

Peregrine was actively stooping and ranging about for a good 5 minutes early on this morning. Really clear view rather than this fleeting sighting.
