Would be interested in hearing if anyone's birded Gowy landfill? There have been a couple of bird reports from Gowy Meadows LNR recently so i guess birders are visiting the general area. Seem to remember Fred saying it had potential for gulling when he stopped for a brief look. If anyone's had any success, where's the best place to view?
Cheers, Mike.

Gowy Landfill site can be viewed from Picton lane but is very distant. A lot of the gulls come off the tip to roost / preen in the fileds adjacent to Picton Lane. There is a footpath that runs off Picton Lane and then parallel with the tip but if you use that you'll flush all the gulls. Recently had adult winter Yellow-legged Gull here but still looking for the white winger. Gowy water meadows accessible from Thornton Le Moors. Park by old church and follow path down to meadows. Keep to footpaths as its all a private shooting area. Footpath ends up on tow path of Shropshire Union canal near Stoak (try the Bunbury Arms). There are wintering Green Sandpiper along the ditches.
