On another thread a post suggested I could replace the LCD protection panel on my 40D which I scratched not long ago for not much money and that it was a DIY job.

Can anyone point me to a website or contact number that I could get in touch with to get a replacement.

Max.

If you mean the cover for the LCD screen on the back of the camera Canon do these as a replacement cost about a teener you could try somewhere like park cameras as they are a Canon pro dealer and should be able to advise, let us know how you get on with fitting it.

try jessups 5 quid for 3I guess these are those stick-on plastic LCD obscurers. What Max is talking about is the thick plastic that covers the LCD and is so clear that most people assume it is the LCD.

Max, I guess one of the reasons it's not often done is that it's not very easy to scratch the screen panel. Of the three xxD cameras I've owned I've not managed to do so. And I'm not renowned for being gentle with my gear. You don't wear a nose-ring, do you?;)

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I am a bit worried about getting the old one off as you need a sucker pad and some elbow grease.

Frank : I managed to drop my camera on a gravel path.At the time I was relieved everything worked and only the LCD panel was scratched.

I've had one reply so far (Colchester Canon Repair Centre) £15 + vat.

Got the replacement lcd screen protector panel today.

Took off the old one with a sucker pad and a tiny precision screwdriver which I slid down the side.A bit scary but did it quite quickly.

The replacement one was exactly the same as the old one ie. must have come from Canon. The only worry was there was no sticky surface on the back to hold it in position so I had to use the sticky layer that remained after I had removed the old one.It seems secure. Was this a mistake?
