Oh no another 100-400/400 prime thread!!

But don't worry I don't want to know which is best as I already own a 100-400 and just bought the 400 prime!! :t:

However before the new one is delivered I would like to know which is longer, the 400mm prime without lenshood out or the 100-400mm closed to 100mm but with the lens hood attached??

Basically I Just want to know if the prime will fit in my current bag, which fits the zoom closed but with the hood out, and no matter how much searching I have done I can't find the lengths clearly written.

Here you go:

EF 400 f5.6L with both caps, and a Hoya filter fitted - length overall 28cm/11in.

It should fit perfect. The Canon 400 f/5.6 lens does comes with a carrying case also.

Well my 400D with 100-400 attached with hood on fits nicely in my minitrekker bag, nice and snug no movement. Forget camera case pain in the bum, not needed when you have a proper bag.
