Hi all,

Hope you can help? I am visiting Cornwall in April and staying in a cottage in Cawsand. I would like some pointers as where to go for day trips so as to get the most out of the area. I will have transport, binos, spotting scope etc but would probably only have ONE full day to myself for dedicated birdwatching. What I will do is encourage the family to get on their bikes and do some "picnic rides" and, naturally I'd bring my equiptment with me.

So....Here's looking forward to loads of advice.

Rame Head would probably be the nearest good spot - just south of Cawsand. In April, assuming the weather is right, it could be good for migrants and possibly some movement at sea. Years since I've been there but it was always underwatched.

Good luck.

Wht not bring them over to Wadebridge and get them to cycle along the Camel Trail to Padstow. You can then sample to delights of the Camel Estuary.

Pah !!!!...walking never hurt anybody...

Tis a lovely walk from Wadebridge to Padstow..perfectly flat as it used to be a railway.

Or park up a Bodmin Parkway station, get the Bodmin & Wenford steam train as far as it goes which connects to the Camel trail and walk to Wadebridge, the 555 bus gets you back to the car.
