I am looking at the possibility of a new digiscoping camera.

I now see the Canon Powershot A590IS is quite reasonably priced on Amazon and there is a 'lens converter' available for it.

I have the LCE adapter for the Swaro ATS65 20-60x zoom eyepiece.

How would I marry the A590IS to the scope?

Andrew,
The Canon adapter will give you a 52 mm thread to match with the LCE adapter.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am concerned about the 52mm you mention. This is much larger than the diameter of the screw thread on my adapter which is about 24mm diameter and used to screw straight into the Coolpix 4500.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Andrew,
You could get a couple of step down rings to convert from 52 - 28 mm. Probably 52 - 43 and then 43 - 28 mm . They will add a bit of thickness but won't affect the performance of the camera. Neil.

Thanks again Neil. If I went for this option then I would just get one step down ring and araldite it to the adapter to keep the thickness down.

Check the thread size on the LCE adapter - it should be 28mm. if that is the case then the following link provides a stepping ring from 52mm to 28mm

Could you tell me what the model number is for the Canon adapter?

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark, if I went for this camera I would probably opt for the simpler 52mm eyepiece adapter to avoid step rings.

The number for the Canon lens adapter is LA-DC52G.
