Hi all. Driving home from Moore NR this afternoon i saw a Red Kite hunting the fields between the M56 and the lane i was on between Daresbury and Hatton. At one point it was only a few feet above me. I have only seen Kites in Mid Wales before so my first in Cheshire has anyone else seen them locally. Apologies for the typo in the thread title

Hi, I spotted a single red kite today 10.15am by the duke of portland nr northwich, cheshire. I pulled over to watch as ive never seen them in england before, only ever in mid wales. Felt quite privileged as i watched for a few minutes.

Great news

I saw one on the Cheshire Derbyshire border last summer, lets hope for more!!

It could well be "Dora" she is a captive bred bird that is based at Peckforton Castle and flown from there daily.

spotted a red kite on friday evening just outside congleton whilst driving towards sandbach, ive never seen one round here only ever seen them at stokenchurch on m40, it made my day!

nice record. Where abouts was it? I drive that way regularly so i'll keep an eye out for it.

as you come from congleton follow for sandbach there are several lay bys on the right i think if you park in the 3rd one( i think) just before the small crossroads with smethwick lane/new road if you look across the road there are quite alot of trees thats where i saw it, going to go down again this weekend with my camera!
