After yesterdays rumour of a White-front this has now been reported on Birdguides as a Lesser White-Fronted Goose.
Features noted include small pinkish beak, few belly markings and a yellow eye-ring plus long wings projecting. Also, it was grazing with wigeon and being very wary....oh and no colour rings....over to you guys

Sure there's been one kicking around the N Wales coast for a while, being at Conwy for a bit I believe? Was this bird colour ringed?

I am not sure the absence of colour rings proves a lot, we had one knocking around with feral geese on the Fylde that was unringed.
Being in a flock of a possible carrier species would be the best pointer to wild origin, not sure Wigeon really fit the bill...

A Lesser White-fronted Goose with colour rings does not have to be a (random) escape, but can also be a (Swedish) reintroduction.

I think there were 2 at Conwy, and they usually turn up in the summer months (?)
And by the way, it's Point of AYR :-D

Not sure about rings but I believe they were thought to be wanderes from a re-introduction project somewhere.

Yeah I have heard about the ones at Conwy but you're right they do tend to turn up in Summer...
And the spelling is historically AYR but I thought that it was changed recently to AIR don'y know why?
This bird was NOT ringed at all.
And was on Warren Farm fields

Seem to remember the late Eric Hardy years back on his wildlife programmes Radio Merseyside stating that Ayr was incorrect and should be Air and his birdwatching days go back to the 40s.

A first year bird with a small influx of whitefront to Slimbridge like the last one would get me exited. One of my favourite geese!
