Location: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico - southern tip of Baja California

On our recent cruise we found this large tree which was full of birds feeding early one morning. I would like to know what it is, so that I can name it correctly in my trip report.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

A fig (Ficus) of some sort, sorry, don't know which (there's about 800 species to chose from!)

Thanks Steve and Michael for your prompt replies. Rock Fig definitely would fit the leaf shape and habitat. The whole hotel/condominium complex in this part of Cabo was being built on and around very interesting rocky outcrops.

Helen, Isn't it funny that the two replies that you got so far are from people from Northumberland? Perhaps we just breed good botanists here.

Could it be even stranger that I'm a Cumbrian by birth (Penrith, which is only 75 miles from Newcastle) and my husband spent 4 years at N/C-upon-Tyne University back in the 60's!!

IŽd also have said Ficus palmeri...had one on my window sill for several years (Indoors), until a flatmate had forgotten to close the window in a freezing night (I was in South Africa at that time)...
