Nikon D80 --- Which Lens ??

Hi Folks, live 10 minutes from Wicken Fen and Lakenheath, longstanding nature lover, new to birding, new to the site, new to bird photography and loving all the digipics ....

I purcheased a D80, to get going I purchased an Optika zoom, lots of limitation but enought to whet the appitite, time for something bigger.

Done the research, consulted the Bank Manager and am thinking of a Sigma APO 50-500 mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM.

Can any one advise me specifically on the compatibility of D80 and this lens ? their personal experiences etc etc.

Yes that lens is compatible with Nikon, when you purchase it be sure it has a nikon mount as this lens is also made with several other brand mounts. There are numerous photos in the gallery taken with this lens, its quite popular.
