Hi Guys
Am taking a holiday later this year and have the opportunity to stop over in Singapore for a few days. What I'd like to ask is if anybody has purchased any Nikon equipment in Singapore lately. If so can they tell me what items they purchased and the cost. I'd like to know if there is any savings there compared to where I live and wheather it would be worth the stop there. Thanks in advance to any responses. Redtail7

Sorry, don't know about photo equipment prices there, but do make a point of visiting the Jurong Bird Park, and if you have the time, Sungei Buloh Nature Park...I saw and got pictures of some amazing birds there.

Given the recent hike in Nikon lens prices here, which appears set to continue, it should be worth comparing prices if you are thinking of purchasing something substantial. Havent a clue what the Singapore benchmark is, but given the current yen-euro-sterling situation I'd be surprised if they are as high.

Singapore tends to be a little more expensive than US prices. I purchased a 16-85 about 3 months ago for SGD780 (grey market). My usual shop wanted about SGD850 for local warranty unit. I just priced 300 f2.8 and off the street, you'd probably pay SGD8,000. Figure about 1.53 SGD to the USD right now (guessing havent checked lately). All prices include 7% GST which you can get refunded upon leaving Singapore.

Prices did go up in step with other markets during February.
