A bit of a long shot. Somerset does seem to be full of keen birders from the threads in this forum.
Anyway, I'm spending a few hours at Weston tomorrow (approx. noon to 4 p.m.) with no car for transport. Are there any birds worth seeing and if so, where?
I will look out for the odd Gull and probably head North to the cliffs - unless someone knows of anything else worth going for.

[It's a day trip by coach. Not necessarily the most exciting way to spend a day but one of the cheapest.]

Hi Alan
The Axe estuary and Uphill NR is within easy reach from Weston beach.
The pond and Sewage works at the end of the NR sometimes produces the odd rarity although I have`nt heard of anything recently but with the spring migration now underway it could be well worth a look.
I intend going there myself tomorrow so if you want a lift I can pick you up from the seafront if you want.

Thanks for that. It sounds worth a visit.
I can't be precise about where and when I will arrive but we may get to meet. Don't wast any time waiting for me.

Well it wasn't too bad.
I walked to Uphill NR via the Estuary. Didn't see much uncommon - a few Redshanks and a Chiffchaff.
Back via the Golf Course and round the cliff area. Lots of Gulls, Starlings, Crows and Pigeons.
A pleasant sunny day (but with a very high wind chill factor).
I don't think I will be adding WSM to my Top Ten Birding SItes.
