I must admit I don't understand the last two launches from Nikon and Canon.

The 500d is priced above the 50d and now Nikon price the d5000 above the d90!

If Nikon had stuck the price between the d60 and d90 then I could understand it. That said I assume it has a similar sensor to the d90/d300 so image quality should be excellent and it has much better AF than the d60.

the lack of a built in autofocus will be a pain for those with old screw drive lenses but I doubt many of those will be buying this anyway

Body on the D5000 is just slightly below the D90 although they've taken that down now. over here the body only d5000 is much £100 than the d90. makes no sense to me
