Well, finally got meself a couple of days off work, postponed since January, so me and partnyorsha (taking some hours back) took a walk Outback this morning.

The change in weather meant the morning was sunny and mild, if a bit windy!

I guess I expected the day to be pretty similar to yesterday, as the time was the same near as makes no difference, but truth be told, although not bad, there wasn’t nearly so much activity as yesterday.

Even so, we still managed a fair list, if smaller numbers, and also got the briefest glimpse of the first Greater Spotted Woodpecker for a little while. Add to this the Little Grebe, the Skylarks and a Pied Wagtail right at the end, and all in all things were OK.

I’ve included in this list a small flock of Meadow Pipits, which are probably just about the dodgiest id that will make my list (excluding grey waders!). Although they passed my personal and I believe reasonable criteria, the strength of my id is based on little more than “they look brown and streaky”, they go “tsip” and it’s Winter.

The Linnets are a bit dicey, but at least in good conditions, if it kept still, I could confidently id a Linnet… if a Meadow Pipit hung around for about an hour, I’d still not be 100% sure… I really don’t know my Pipit from my elbow!

Anyway, the usual info…
