Hello Gentoo,
thank You very much for the advice.
I think about D300.
Mostly I want a metal body. i did not found information about D5000 body.
D5000 has also video function. I think also about new camcorder.
But I suppose DSLR will not as good as camcorder in video functionality ( video quality + sound ) ?
Buy the way Your bird pictures are excellent.
Best regards
Dieter

Thank you albatross for your compliments.
The D5000 is Nikons newest entry level. It's basically like a D40 of D60; same type of body and very scaled down with few buttons. It's sensor if similar to the ones used in the D90 and D300 and has much the same controls on the inside.
If you can afford a D300 and a camcorder then go that route. Video in these DSLR's isn't much.

Pre release price in the UK is £719 [orders being taken] - the D90 which has better specs., in body AF motor, the same 12mp sensor and video and is hardly an out of date model is currently £618. Why would anyone buy a D5000? At least until street price is considerably less.

Over here the D5000 is still cheaper than the D90 but, IMO, not enough to seprate it although they did just increase the price of the D90 back to $1000. I guess if every penny counts, those are the ones who would get it. The US DSLR market just seems to have a different dynamic than elsewhere.
